Discover Wander Camp Grand Canyon
Little under half an hour away from the majestic Grand Canyon, you’ll find Wander Camp. This rustic glamping accommodation near Grand Canyon was our most unique stay during our US road trip! We had never glamped (or camped) before, and this sure was an amazing way to start our camping career. Becoming one with nature without compromising on comfort, that’s how we like it!
The first thing we noticed was how helpful our host was. She gave us great directions on how to get there, super handy as we had to go off the grid to reach the camp. Once we arrived, the host made sure to give us a warm welcome. We were given instructions, she showed us around, and told us how and where we could park the car near our tent. She also gave some general instruction about the firepit, bathrooms, and basic etiquette for during our stay.
Wander Camp consists of several glamping tents, a shared bathroom (including toilets and showers), and a communal dining area. There are several types of tents available, like the King Tent, Twin Tent, and Family Tent. The King Tent is perfect for couples (one big, comfy bed), while the Family Tent is made for families (duh!). There’s something for everyone!
Good to know
Keep in mind that Wander Camp operates off-grid, so there’s no electricity available. Make sure you charge your phone in the car on your way there, or use a power bank if you absolutely have to. Better yet, don’t use your phone at all for a true magical experience!
The tents
We stayed in the King Tent and couldn’t be more happy with our choice. Our glamping tent was super spacious, extremely cozy and the bed was really comfortable. We had a kingsize bed, some pillows and blankets, two chairs, a table, and a solar lantern available. Since temperatures at night could drop to (or below) 5°C, we also ordered a gas heater (€ 40) to keep ourselves warm at night. We highly recommend ordering a gas heater if you’re not visiting during the summer. It will keep you warm at night if you heat your tent for a couple of hours before you go to bed. Also, make sure you got some juice left for the chilly mornings as well. Wander Camp will contact you a few days before your stay asking if you need upgrades, so then would be the time to “pre-order” your gas heater!
Our tent was within walking distance of the shared bathrooms. It made for some fun moments when we both had to pee at night, finding our way completely in the dark!
What stayed with us most was the magical sunset, followed by some incredible stargazing. This was soooo magical and made for a perfect glamping experience! No words can describe what a wonderful, unforgettable experience we had. We just sat outside for a couple of hours, staring at the sky. We’ve never seen anything like it! There’s hardly any “light pollution”, so the stars shine as bright as ever.
Our experience at Wander Camp
Wander Camp offers truly a memorable and unique experience. As mentioned before we had never glamped (or camped) before, Wander Camp was the perfect first glamping experience! We paid just under € 200 for one night, which we thought was quite expensive. Taking into account that prices are more expensive in the US anyway, and for the memorable experience we got in return, we would undoubtedly do this again!
Since Wander Camp has over 300 glamping tents across several locations near national parks, we’ll definitely be back to try out the other locations. From Bryce Canyon, Zion, Yellowstone, and Canyonlands, there are plenty of locations to explore!
